Welcome to Scotia Lodge.

It is both an honour and a privilege to welcome you on behalf of all the Brethren of Scotia Lodge.

Whether you are a Brother seeking to visit us, someone interested in learning more about Scottish Freemasonry, or simply curious about our work, we hope these pages offer an insight into who we are and the principles by which we strive to live.

Our Lodge is founded upon friendship, integrity, respect and the belief that every man can continue to improve himself throughout his life. Freemasonry is not simply a tradition; it is a lifelong journey of personal development, shared learning and mutual support.

One of the greatest strengths of our Craft is its ability to unite men from different backgrounds, cultures, professions and beliefs in a spirit of harmony and equality. Within the Lodge we meet as Brothers, learning from one another, exchanging knowledge and experiences, and encouraging each other to become better men, better citizens and better friends.

Education is at the heart of our work. Every meeting offers an opportunity to deepen our understanding of our traditions, reflect upon timeless moral principles, and benefit from the collective wisdom and experience of our Brethren. We believe that true knowledge grows through respectful dialogue, open minds and sincere fellowship.

The harmony we cultivate within the Lodge is not intended to remain within its walls. Rather, it should guide our conduct in our families, our professions and our communities. The principles we practise together are those we endeavour to demonstrate in everyday life—with humility, honesty and compassion.

Scotia Lodge seeks to be a place where genuine friendships are formed, where differences become strengths, and where every Brother contributes to the success and well-being of the whole.

Thank you for visiting our website. We look forward to welcoming you personally and sharing the unique spirit of Scottish Freemasonry with you.

Fraternally,

Neil Herbert

Our Principles

Three Pillars of the Craft

Everything we do rests upon timeless values passed from brother to brother across the centuries.

The three pillars of the Craft — Doric, Ionic and Corinthian — with the working tools, globes and Volume of the Sacred Law

Brotherly Love

We regard the whole human species as one family, bound by mutual respect, tolerance and affection.

Relief

To soothe the unhappy, to sympathise with misfortune, and to restore peace to the troubled mind.

Truth

The pursuit of truth guides our conduct — sincerity, integrity and honest labour in all things.
